How are the magnets in the PRO line different to CONNETIX tiles?
The PRO line introduces Smart-Spin technology, an exciting innovation in magnetic tile construction. This feature allows the ultra-strong magnets to rotate up to 360 degrees within the tile to self-align and click into place to build in exciting new directions and angles. This means that the PROs aren’t limited to set magnet points, offering builders the freedom to engineer and construct like never before. With these advanced tiles you can create floating stairs and brickwork, overlap tiles to add personalised features to your designs, and so much more – opening up a whole new world of possibilities.
Are the self-aligning magnets extra strong?
Yes, these are our strongest magnets yet and like no other on the market! The PROs allow you to build straight out from structures and even attach to just a small part of the build without falling due to gravity. Our PRO tiles will firmly hold together in different angles and directions, it’s a total gamechanger in engineering that allows for more complex and intricate designs.
Can builders pick up and interact with their designs?
Yes, the advanced strength of the magnets combined with Smart-Spin technology make it possible to pick up, share and interact with handheld designs. Create planes that fly through the air, blast off a rocket or even roam characters through a magical universe – the PROs bring a whole new level of interactivity and functionality to builds.
Can I reset the direction or alignment of the magnets in my PRO tiles?
PRO tiles use spinning magnet technology to unlock new ways to build and create. Sometimes, when placing multiple magnets together at once, the magnets will rotate within the tile and self-align in unexpected ways or to tiles that the builder didn’t intend them to, creating resistance. For best results, place one tile at a time to allow the magnets to spin and lock into place correctly. If the magnet needs resetting, simply slide the tile back and forth against another PRO tile to allow the magnet to re-position.
What age range is the PRO line recommended for and why?
We’ve designed this range with the next generation of builders in mind and of course kidults too! The advanced features and increased magnet strength of the PROs add a greater level of complexity and technical difficulty. This line aims to inspire and challenge older children as they test their engineering and design skills, as well as provide a whole new experience as they level-up their builds.
Do the PRO tiles have the same enhanced safety features as CONNETIX tiles?
Absolutely! Like all our products, we ensure rigorous safety and quality processes to ensure our tiles are built to last. Each PRO tile is mechanically friction fitted together with industrial grade cement and ultrasonically welded providing multiple levels of protection, strength and safety.
Are the PRO tiles compatible with the CONNETIX range and other magnetic tile brands?
Yes, this line is compatible with the CONNETIX range and existing collections. While we have thoughtfully designed the PROs to be easily combined with CONNETIX tiles to elevate build and learning possibilities, the PROs are a separate line of tiles that introduce new, more advanced play patterns and functionality to encourage older children to experience increased challenge as they build and create.
What are the new shapes in this line?
The PRO line feature smaller versions of standard CONNETIX tiles including squares, rectangles and three types of triangles, all designed to help you create more detailed and intricate builds. The post and plank tiles are completely new shapes to the CONNETIX range. These slimline pieces are perfect for adding intricate and personalised features to designs like cat whiskers, flag poles and even arms for characters.
Why aren’t the PRO tiles transparent?
The PRO line offers a distinct look and feel that appeals to a modern aesthetic and more sophisticated builds. Each of the six refined colours is unique to the CONNETIX range and feature a bold, opaque finish so they can be easily identified and sorted from standard tiles.
I’ve noticed a rattling sound in my PRO tiles, is this expected?
Yes, the PRO tiles have more space where the magnets are secured to allow them to spin and self-align. A subtle sound is common and adds to the unique sensory appeal of the PROs as they lock into place.
